The Evening Chronicle have suggested Celtic are interested in landing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow this summer, for a bargain price of just £3million.
Darlow, 28, has managed just one appearance all season for the Toon this season, conceding three goals in a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Indeed, Martin Dubravka remains Newcastle’s number one.
He has clocked up just 59 appearances for Newcastle despite joining the north east outfit back in the summer of 2014. Conceding 68 goals, Darlow has also kept 20 clean sheets but he is not on Dubravka’s level.
Celtic could do with a new goalkeeper. Scott Bain remains the club’s number one and has been impressive since overtaking Craig Gordon, but does not have the kind of calibre expected to progress in Europe.
Gordon is now 36, and is struggling to earn his place back in the side. Now, Celtic are on the lookout for a new stopper and Darlow could be bought for just £3million.
