Charlton have maintained all along that selling Danny Murphy was never on the agenda, but suddenly a change of mind as they put a "take it or leave it" deal on the table.
Apparently the Addicks are sick of the rumours that the ex-Liverpool midfielder is on his way to Tynside, and have demanded £2.5 million plus Lee Bowyer in exchange for Murphy.
They say the cash demands have been made in an effort to put Newcastle United off any deal, but then again, aren't they encouraging it?
