Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is an £18m transfer target for Chelsea, according to The Sun on Sunday.
The former Nottingham Forest defender is the latest in a long line of English centre-backs to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, where manager Antonio Conte is reportedly keen to sign homegrown talent to replace skipper John Terry.
Lascelles, aged 22, has been a rollercoaster (good and bad) performer for the Magpies since Rafa Benitez took charge at the end of last season. The Spaniard rates him and gave him the captain’s armband.
Lascelles has reportedly impressed Chelsea scouts with his performances so far this season, with Conte earmarking him as a player who could form part of his three-man defence.
