The Telegraph has reported that Newcastle United are subject to interest from China - here's what we know about interest in the club
Newcastle United have brushed off interest from intermediaries enquiring about the sale of the club as Mike Ashley continues to maintain his stance that the Magpies are not for sale.
The Telegraph’s North East correspondent Luke Edwards reported today that Chinese consortia approached the club looking to broker a “bargain price” to buy the club after their relegation to the Championship in May .
Club sources indicated that the approach came from intermediaries looking to broker a deal for an English club. Newcastle appealed because of its large fanbase and potential.
But Ashley – who is understood to be pleased with the way the club has been running under Rafa Benitez – showed absolutely no interest in selling the club. United have continually insisted that the owner does not want to sell, and there would be no interest whatsoever in selling the club at a loss.
