Manchester City fans have create a banner in memory of the two Newcastle United fans killed on the MH17 flight - John Alder and Liam Sweeney.
Blues fan Paul Bottomley has designed and raised cash to create a banner in memory of the football fanatics.
The banner, which bears the Newcastle United and Manchester City crests and a message to John and Liam, will be displayed in St James’ Park for the first game of the season.
Rick Haswell-Cohen, branch secretary of the North East Manchester City Supporters Club, said: “We want to honour the memory of John and Liam, and show solidarity from fellow football fans.
“They were making a huge effort travelling to the other side of the world for a simple friendly. It could just as easily have been two Man City fans and it’s important that the families know that other football supporters share their loss.
“We all support different teams but at the end of the day, football fans are part of one big community.”
