Club Or Country?
Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is far from happy the Turkish FA have insisted long-term injury victim Emre must be allowed to link up with the Turkey squad ahead of next week's vital World Cup qualifier in Albania.
Emre was injured when playing for his country in their last international, and has not played for Newcastle since. In fact he has only played in two of the club's eight Premiership games to date.
United have been battling to get Emre fit and it upsets Souness that Turkey are getting the benefit ... not Newcastle. However, under FIFA regulations, the Magpies have no choice but to comply with Turkey's request that he travels to be assessed by their medical staff.
Graeme Souness: "Emre has gone to Turkey as requested by their FA, and we have been obliging."
But with Kieron Dyer, Nolberto Solano and Albert Luque also sidelined, Souness could do without the added problems of seeing his half-fit players going on international duty. Australian defender Craig Moore is another who has not been available for his club but suddenly jets off to play for his country.
