Cort has scored seven goals in his 22 Premiership appearances since joining the club in a £7million move from Wimbledon three years ago, with a
horrendous run of injuries meaning that he is now more famous for his supermarket antics than footballing ability, but Sir Bobby still believes he can play an important role in the first team squad."I've had a word with the lad and told him it is time he gave the club something back,” Sir Bobby told the Evening Chronicle.
"He is fully aware of his record here and he understands it is time for him to give us something in return.
"To be fair to Cort, he is quite embarrassed about what has happened to him as far as injuries are concerned since he came here three years ago and he wants to do something about it.
"Carl Cort has one of the best ratios of goals per game at the club as far as the first team is concerned.
"And what he has to try and remember is that he has not lost his ability while he has been injured.
"Indeed, he should be actually a better player now and he knows this could turn out to be a big season for him."
