Wayne Rooney is set to start against Sweden on Tuesday and rekindle his partnership with Michael Owen.
Rooney has not started for England since March but Sven-Goran Eriksson admitted yesterday that he is poised to recall the Manchester United striker, and NOT drop the Newcastle star.
Owen needs a boost after two quiet games and he thinks Rooney's return at the expense of Peter Crouch will see England revert to a style which suits his game.
Owen: "You would have thought there wouldn't be as many long balls because Wayne and myself are not that tall. It might encourage players to keep it on the deck a bit more."
Eriksson has decided to leave 6ft 7in striker Crouch out against Sweden because he is one booking from a ban which would rule him out of the second round.
