Kenny Dalglish: "I would rather the 'What if?' was if I had never taken charge.
"Because it would have meant they (the players) were doing a lot better than what we were, still have had the same run and the club would have been more successful than what it is at this moment in time.
"That's the 'What if?' for me."
"Luis Suarez is always getting in there and is always a threat. It is just reward for the work he put in on the pitch.
"As for the booing of Andy Carroll, he is a young boy but he has broad shoulders."
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is already targeting a summer recruitment drive.
"The spirit in our group is fine and the effort they put in was honourable but we lacked a bit of quality," he said.
"I think we've got a good base to work from. We're under no illusions; we can't go into the [new] season with this size squad.
"We need to be a bigger squad and have more options and have more competition for the first team places."
