The official website of Darlington Football Club states that they have held talks with Gazza, while also stating that `It is also rumoured that the chairman has been looking at Asprilla who is playing in Mexico.`
Chairman of the third division club, George Reynolds, was quoted in a Sunday tabloid as saying that he is keen to bring in Gazza to help fill the 25000 seater stadium that the Quakers are set to move into later this season.
He stated that he is prepared to pay Gascoigne upto a grand a week, but faces competition from Dundee of the Scottish Premier League to capture his signature.
It is unclear whether he means adding 10K to the gate or simply Gazza's gut.......
