The St James' Park outfit are currently 18th in the table, a point clear of Sunderland and two ahead of Norwich - although the two sides immediately below them each have a game in hand.
Newcastle's win over Crystal Palace last time out saw them move out of the drop zone but Darlow admits he hasn't been looking at the table as he is simply focusing on picking up results.
He told the Chronicle: "I didn't see the Premier League table afterwards but was told we are out of it for the time being.
"The most important thing is we are out of it at the end of the season and we stay in this division.
"Everyone is very focused on getting the job done.
"In the next two games we hope to pick up points again."
Darlow, who was released by Aston Villa as a 16-year-old, is confident Newcastle can grab three vital points at Villa Park on Saturday.
However, the 25-year-old expects a stern test from Villa, despite the fact they have already been relegated.
"It's a tricky game and there simply arenÂ’t any easy ones in the Premier League, everyone knows that," he added.
"We need to go there and give full effort again like we have done in the last four or five matches.
"We really need to take it to them and take three points."
