The 24-year-old joined the Magpies – along with defender Jamaal Lascelles – from Nottingham Forest last August.
Karl Darlow: “My aim is to fight it out and see where I end up.
“I’ll do my best throughout pre-season and see where that leaves me at the end of that.
“It’s been a long time coming and a long time for me waiting to come to the club. I’m obviously delighted and excited to be here and working hard.
“Being at Nottingham Forest it was in the back of my mind and I wanted to give a good account of myself in my last season there.
“Coming up here now is very exciting and I’ve been looking forward to it all summer. It’s been good and I’m looking forward to it. I’m getting to know the ins and outs of Newcastle, and it’s a new start for me.
“I’ve come in with Jamaal, we know all about each other and we’re round the corner from each other. It’s exciting and I’m looking forward to meeting the new lads and hopefully meeting some new friends.
“I’m hoping to better myself playing in the Premier League.”
