Middlesbrough have entered the race to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle United.
Middlesbrough are looking for a new goalkeeper this summer and Alan Nixon is reporting that Karl Darlow is emerging as a serious target.
Boro’s goalkeeping options have been depleted from last season.
Victor Valdes has left by mutual consent, Dimi Konstantopoulos has been released and Brad Guzan has completed a move to the MLS.
This leaves two goalkeepers on their books.
Tomas Mejias, who has failed to impress during his time at Boro, and Connor Ripley, who was voted as the League One goalkeeper of the season last year for relegation threatened Oldham Athletic.
So Boro have instead turned their attention to Karl Darlow of Newcastle.
Newcastle United could be willing to let the former Nottingham Forest man go for the right price.
The Magpies are apparently looking to sign another goalkeeper and they also have Rob Elliot, Tim Krul and Freddie Woodman on their books.
Darlow spent a large period of time as Newcastle’s first choice last year but lost his spot towards the end of the season.
Reading are also in for the 26-year-old so Boro might have to move quickly to snap him up.
