But Geordie legend Alan Shearer is not convinced the Dutchman is what Newcastle need.
Shearer said on MOTD on Saturday evening that Papiss Cisse and de Jong are not up to scratch as Newcastle (apart from the four at Hull City) have been struggling for goals for weeks.
Shearer: "Newcastle struggled all game, and we all know, they are not the same team without Loic Remy."
De Jong was voted "The worst player in the German Bundesliga" last season, and that is the main reason he wants to get away from Germany. Shit sticks!
