The Newcastle United man suffered a leg injury shortly before half time and did not appear after the break. Instead, he was replaced by Bacary Sagna, who was given a chance to stake his claim to the France right-back spot ahead of their World Cup campaign, which begins against Honduras on Sunday.
Speaking at half time, France boss Didier Deschamps revealed that Debuchy was taken off as a precaution, after feeling discomfort while running, but there are still concerns with the World Cup looming. This is set to be Debuchy’s second consecutive major tournament as first choice right-back.
On the pitch, France defeated Jamaica 8-0, with midfielder Blaise Matuidi, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Real Sociedad’s Antoine Griezmann each scoring twice. Midfielder Yohan Cabaye and Arsenal star Olivier Giroud also found the net in the rout, although they will be keen for Debuchy to be fit, having already lost Franck Ribery to injury.
