Debuchy was banned for three games after being sent off on New Year’s Day.
The 28-year-old made a two-footed lunge at Claudio Yacob in the club’s defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
Is this the 'new look hard man' Pardew, who is often seen as a soft touch?
But, from what we hear from St James' Park, Debuchy thought the fine - believed to be in the region of £60,000 - was as "over the top" as his tackle!
Debuchy is NOT a happy man.
And having seen his best mate fly the roost to PSG, it will be interesting to see what the World Cup brings, and what offers follow.
The problem seems to be - if Pardew is going to hand out fines for tackles he is treading on danagerous ground.
Chiek Tiote has had more yellow and red cards that possibly the rest of the team put together, but has he been fined? Or, then again, should he be fined?
We need bite in the middle of the park, that's what makes a good team great.
Alan Pardew: “I do want to take that tackle out of Mathieu’s armoury.
“He can’t afford to do that again for the rest of the year – and the rest of the time he’s here.
“I’ve made that clear to him. He’s been fined, quite substantially, for that.
“But he’s an aggressive player, and I’ll never stop him being aggressive.
“He’s a class player for us.
“We lost two of the three games for which he was suspended. That was a factor. It’s nice to have him back.”
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has deputised for Debuchy at right-back, and he will drop down to the bench at Carrow Road.
