Arguably as unpopular as Joe Kinnear, Wise is heading to court, due to his former pal Jimmy Creed – who was best man at Wise’s wedding – claiming the star owes him the money over a series of failed property deals.
In his autobiography, published in 2000, Wise referred to Jimmy as one of his only friends.
The pair have known each other for 40 years and previously described one another as “soul mates”.
But their friendship turned sour in 2009 when their company, Glademoor, invested £540,000 in a proposed golf resort in Cyprus.
Mr Creed claims that when the profits from the deal were paid he did not received what he claims he was owed by Wise.
Two property development deals in West London are also being disputed, with Mr Creed claiming he only got a fraction of the profits as the blues icon Wise allegedly retained the lion’s share.
Mr Creed claims he went bankrupt and lost his eight-bedroom home in Ealing, West London as a result.
Mr Creed: “It’s the saddest day of my life to have to sue such a close friend of mine but what can I do?
“This whole affair has nearly killed me. Dennis and I were like blood brothers, we did everything together.
“I wish I didn’t have to do this but I’ve lost everything and all that I want is the money that is owed to me. If he was to turn around tomorrow and make me a substantial offer I’d stop this immediately.”
Wise denies owing him the cash.
