The Magpies travel to the Midlands for our first fixture in 16 days since we beat Wigan 1-0, to play rock bottom Derby County.

Davies is said to be heading for showdown talks with Derby County bosses this week before making an astonishing move to Leicester City.

The Daily Mirror claims that Davies is unhappy about reports that the club have already been lining up replacements for him. And it is suggested that Milan Mandaric would put the Scot top of his wanted list should he become available.

Chairman Peter Gadsby has rubbished reports of a "furious" row between Billy Davies and the Derby County board.

It is also understood the Rams are considering taking legal action following several stories which have appeared in national newspapers in the past few days surrounding Davies' future as manager at Pride Park.

Reports have alleged the Scot has had a "bust-up" with Gadsby and the board over the club's transfer policy after missing out on targets Kenwyne Jones and David Nugent before the window closed at the end of August.

The reports also allege Davies could be axed and claim possible replacements have been sounded out, including former Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell who is currently out of work.
