After a run of poor results for their national team the Malaysian FA have approached former Mackems chief Howard Wilkinson with a view to him taking over from Allan Harris as manager.
Wilkinson memorably recorded one of the worst ever records as a top-flight manager at the Stadium of Light last season, but is still the man identified by the Malaysian FA as their potential saviour.
He is now reported to have travelled to Kuala Lumpur for a three-week stay during which time he will help out with coaching the national team on a trial basis.
