Newcastle United will be forced to make a change against Watford due to suspension.
Newcastle United host Watford on Saturday, with Rafael Benitez's side hoping to bring a run of three consecutive Premier League defeats to an end.
Benitez has a selection issue to contend with ahead of the game at St James' Park, with midfielder Isaac Hayden facing a one-game suspension having received his fifth domestic booking of the season in the defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
With Mikel Merino continuing to recover from injury, Benitez could turn to Mohamed Diame, who has been unable to command a regular place in the starting line-up this season, to fill the void.
Diame possesses a wealth of Premier League experience having made 186 appearances in the division but some of his recent performances have been unconvincing.
However, if he does feature against Watford then Diame will be aiming to seize his opportunity and he can offer Newcastle something different to Hayden in that he is a slightly more attack minded player, which could help Benitez's side to pose more of a threat going forwards.
Once Hayden and Merino are available once more, the likelihood is that Diame will fall down the pecking order again. But should he seize his opportunity against Watford, then the Senegalese midfielder would certainly give Benitez something to think about.
