Notts County will announce the signing of former England defender Sol Campbell at a news conference today ... but what the hell was he doing at St James' Park for the Reading game mixing with Toon officials?
Chris Hughton was baffled when asked if Campbell was going to be his first signing.
And even more confused when he was told the former-Arsenal star was up in the stands with Ashley and Llambias.
There was talk ... but no action .... and he's ended up at Notts County.
The 34-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth in the summer, will sign in a purely playing capacity.
With Arsenal he twice won the Premier League title and the FA Cup three times and was in the Double-winning team of 2002.
Campbell, who has appeared in three World Cups, was still playing at the highest level last season, making 32 appearances for Pompey in the top flight of English football.
And he also featured for England in the Euro 2008 qualifiers but has not been selected since Fabio Capello took over as manager.
