Did Man Utd Fans Boo The Toon Tribute?

I was at the match, sat in the Leazes just down from the Man Utd supporters, and I had a different take on it.

The Mancs were trying to sing non-stop for 90 minutes, as they do at most away games, and the fact they tried to sing during the minute tribute upset a number of Geordies.

I could be wrong, but the boos came from the Newcastle fans ... aimed at the Mancs.

One thing IS certain though, they DID try and sing through it, showing little respect.

Comments taken from our NU-MAD message board:-

Zippity: Manure fans booing in the 17th minute
Wasn't just me and me mates who thought we heard it-plenty round us did. Anyone else? Once when it started then again about half way through.Utter scum if they were indeed booing. (and I'm pretty sure they were)

JENKY88: I wasn't there Zip but it's been all over facebook/twitter and plenty of people saying it could be heard on the telly as well.

Complete scumbags. Especially given the fact that they (quite rightly, like) immediately pipe up with regards to anything negative towards the Munich disaster.

Zippity: Bunch of utter, utter c****. They might be our bitter rivals but most of the mackems had enough class to applaud.

Not applauding is one thing (why wouldn't they but it's down to individual-or collective in their case-choice) but to openly boo? Utter scum, they are.

zoggs: Yep , If you don't want to applaud , then dont,, but don't boo , a handful of utter scum , who deserve a couple of slaps.

Geordieland: Well there's always gonna be a bunch of idiots among bigger crowds, that's inevitable. I don't feel that they took anything away from the beautiful reception Jonas got, and I'm sure he feels the same.

lloydl26: They do the same thing for hillsborough but then like someone said above that when it comes to Munich they make a big fuss about it.

Show the respect or stay mute, don't be disrespectful to another cause that you don't have ties with.

These things are not about football, it's about the human race and the families affected by the disaster. We're all the same deep down.

They booed and it sounded like quite a lot of them! I was sat in the Platinum Club/Black & White club end, so could hear it clear as day. Horrible and disrespectful bstards!

waalsendmick: From my seat in Milburn level 7, I thought the booing was coming from the toon fans in the corner as a reaction to the Man utd fans refusal to join in the applause.

If it was the man utd fans booing, then I'm appalled.
