Diouf And The Tussle In The Tunnel

El-Hadji Diouf had the last laugh when he was taunted by the Toon Army,
by destroying Newcastle with two goals in 95 seconds at St James' Park.

But the Senegal striker was dragged away from a tunnel bust-up after winding-up his opponents and the fans to boiling point confirming again there cannot be a bigger hate-figure in the Premiership.

He was booked and Newcastle defender Craig Moore couldn't resist barging into him the second he walked away from the yellow card, obviously hoping to push him over the edge.

He scored in the 55th and 57th minutes to send Bolton to third in the table, but he was saved from an angry confrontation by assistant boss Sammy Lee after the final whistle as tempers boiled over.

Diouf's wild goal celebrations were aimed at Newcastle fans, but before that he was seen roughing the penalty spot before Shola Ameobi took the kick.

Glenn Roeder: "Most players get frustrated with him. His reputation goes before him."

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce refused to comment on the tunnel incident, only saying: "I'll look at it tomorrow. I'd rather talk about the game.

"We have got high aspirations because it is demanded by our fans that we look at that level.

"In three years, we have finished eighth, sixth and eighth. Now they are looking to us to repeat that or go even further, and that is a great expectation for a club like ours."
