Does Owen Want A New Contract?

But Owen, like every other high profile player, is advised to keep his lip buttoned.
The golden rule in all negotiations is "let others do the talking".
Owen calls the current mess we are in as "hysteria" and, as the months go by, we seem no further forward than we were when Kevin Keegan did a runner.
He conceded that the departure of former manager Kevin Keegan, the attempted sale of the club and the appointment of an interim manager in Joe Kinnear have stalled contract talks.
Owen: "It is something that has been spoken about for a long, long time now.
"I had talks with the club about five or six months ago. We were negotiating but then all the hysteria happened.
"Kevin Keegan left and a lot of the people on the board as well left and some of those people were the ones we were negotiating with.
"Since then there has been so much happening that we haven't resumed. The club obviously haven't got back to us yet."
Others will test the water in January ... you can bet your bottom dollar ... but this mess Mike Ashley has us in, seems never ending.
I don't blame Owen for giving his side of the story, because he is hot property and we seem set to let him go the way so many have in the past.
We all know the score at this club, Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Gazza, the history books are full of it ... international players sent on their merry way ... that's why we've won bugger all since 1969!
