Quinn says the former Manchester United and Ireland captain is the reason more people worldwide know about the club. Quinn: "Roy is big news wherever he goes, but I welcome the fact that Roy has opened Sunderland up to the world.
"In the previous few years, Sunderland had only been in the news for bad reasons.
"He has brought something big to us. If along the way there's a little spat, it's not going to trouble me too much."
Can anyone remember when there was a court case in Oxford when an ex-Sunderland player struck a guy in a fish and chip shop because he was called a "Mackem".
The court had to decide if 'Mackem' was derogatory, and decided (after two days research) it wasn't.
Which just goes to show ... they didn't know about Sunderland in OXFORD ... never mind WORLDWIDE!
