Bowyer hopes to return to fitness this week, and he knows Graeme Souness will find it difficult to choose his best four. But the ex-Leeds player is NOT looking for a move away from the club.
He stood firm when chairman Freddy Shepherd tried to patronise him after a good performance, when Fat Fred said he was the sort of player we needed at the club. Bowyer replied: "That's interesting, he's been trying to sell me for the last six months."
Daily Mirror: "Newcastle have been linked with moves for Celtic's Stilian Petrov and Deportivo La Coruna's Aldo Duscher.
"Bowyer will be a target for other Premiership clubs, with Aston Villa and Charlton among the favourites to sign him if Souness lets him go."
If Bowyer goes it will be because Souness ... or the chairman ... want him out. Not because the player wants to go.
