Staff at Breeze Creatives in Market Street have been posted two fine letters addressed to a Mr Doumbia, fining him £100 for allegedly parking his Mercedes on private land without a valid permit.
The letters were posted to the arts and culture organisation’s city centre address, where co-director Daniel Gibson, who is not a huge football fan, opened them.
“It was our address,” said Daniel. “But I didn’t recognise the name so I presumed someone had wrongly registered their car here.”
It was then pointed out to Daniel that Newcastle’s January signing was also one Mr Seydou Doumbia.
According to the fine letter, the car’s owner parked on private land without displaying a valid permit at the 55 Degrees North building in Newcastle on Tuesday, March 8 at 1.51pm.
If Mr Doumbia pays his fine within 14 days he will only have to hand over £60 - which shouldn’t too financially taxing if it is the United striker.
The club completed a loan move for 28-year-old Ivorian Doumbia. The player will spend the rest of the season at St James’ Park and Newcastle have an option to make his transfer from Roma a long-term one in the summer.
At the time of signing, he said: “I’m really excited and I’m happy to be here. I had a few offers and when I got the offer to come here to Newcastle I signed up straight away.
“It’s my childhood dream [to play in the Premier League] and now I’m here I feel fantastic.
“I feel great. I’m really excited to get out there
Daniel said: “I have no idea why the car is registered to this address. I phoned up about it but they asked for me to explain the situation in writing, which we really don’t have time to do.”
Breeze Creatives moved into Bamburgh House in Market Street almost a year ago and have just finished redeveloping the property. The arts organisations is creating studio space and galleries in the building.
