Former Newcastle United star Andros Townsend has been banned from driving for speeding.
The winger, who left the Magpies to join Crystal Palace following relegation in the summer, was clocked doing 51mph in a 30mph on Benton Lane.
Townsend, 25, of Potters Bar, Herts, was caught near Newcastle’s training ground in his Land Rover on March 15.
At Gateshead Magistrates’ Court, he was fined £100 and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
He was also banned from the roads for six months.
Townsend signed for Newcastle in January for a fee of £12m and played a key role in the Magpies’ ultimately doomed bid to stay in the Premier League.
His performances earned him an England call-up, before he left St James’ Park for Crystal Palace in the summer.
