There were no major surprises in the squad, with Phil Neville missing out and injury catching up with Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

22 of the squad are based in the Premiership, with Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich) the only foreign based player.

Toon defender Gary Caldwell will also be making the trip to the far east, after being selected for Scotland by new manager Berti Vogts.

Youngsters Jermaine Jenas and Shola Ameobi will be representing England U21's later this month when they compete in the European Championship finals in Switzerland.

England are in group A, with Italy, Portugal and hosts Switzerland.
