The Guardian says West Ham United have a clear run at the unsettled Newcastle midfielder.

They claim "Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur denied any interest in him yesterday. West Ham's manager, Alan Curbishley, who admires the 28-year-old midfielder, is preparing to make a bid.

"It is believed that Newcastle would be willing to accept between £4m and £5m for a player who earns £60,000 a week but, as the only interested party, West Ham may seek to drive this down further. Dyer has a long history of injury problems and will need to pass a stringent medical if he is to move to Upton Park."

The Sun, on the other hand say "SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON is closing in on signing Kieron Dyer from Newcastle for £4.5million.

"The Manchester City boss aims to continue his spending spree 24 hours after landing Martin Petrov for £4.7m from Atletico Madrid.

"If he did go to Man City he would become the first English player signed by Swede Eriksson since he took the reigns at Eastlands following the club's takeover by Thaksin Shinawatra.

"Eriksson included Dyer in many of his squads as England boss and believes he can get the best out of the winger.

"Newcastle have let it be known they are prepared to allow Dyer to move on and are understood to have dropped their asking price from £6m to give the transfer a push.

"Dyer was a one-time West Ham target but the big spending Londoners have failed to follow up their interest.

"The impending move will come as a relief for Dyer, who will jump at the chance to kick start his career under Eriksson."

The Mirror have their money on a move to White Hart Lane, with "Tottenham the club Dyer would like to sign for".
