Press reports had suggested that he is a target for the two cash-rich clubs, and the Daily Mirror and The Sun also claimed that he has set his heart on a switch to Old Trafford.
Dyer though is merely confused about where the stories have come from.
He told the BBC: "I'm still in a black-and-white shirt and it's where I've always wanted to be. Ever since I was a young player at Ipswich I've been faced with speculation surrounding my future.
"But when you join a big club like Newcastle you expect all of that to end.
"It doesn't and you get used to it. Now Chelsea have said they don't want me and Newcastle have said Chelsea can't afford me I just hope the stories come to an end.
"I don't know where the Manchester United thing has come from but I'm happy at Newcastle and that's all that matters."
Earlier Freddy Shepherd had made it clear that only a “silly bid” would persuade the club to sell Dyer.
