He has been encouraged by the arrivals of Jonjo Shelvey, Henri Saivet and Andros Townsend.
Elliot told the Chronicle: “We are at the business end of the season now.
“We are playing really well and for me, it is enjoyable to watch. But we have to turn it into results.
“If you want to watch good football at the moment you’d watch us.
“We want to serve up winning football, though.
“We just need to get back on track and get results like Man United and West Ham not so long ago.
“We will have to lick our wounds and get ready for Everton.
“I feel silly saying this, but we are playing really well and creating a lot of chances.
“We have done for the last six or seven weeks.
“It is just about that finishing touch and getting the goals.
“It is about getting bodies into the box and being ruthless in front of the box.
“It’s there but we are just waiting to boil over.
“When that happens it will become free-flowing. I think there are a lot of positives but we have to get these results coming in.
“The position we are in, we need to start getting results.”
