The transfer-listed full back is expected to complete the move in the next few days after Sir Bobby revealed that negotiations had already begun.
"Robbie's got a slight little knee injury at the moment but nothing serious and we're in the beginnings of negotiations about him with Nottingham Forest," he said.
"It could be resolved early next week because the closure of the transfer window on Sunday doesn't affect first division clubs."
The 29-year-old has made just 29 league appearances since returning to the club after four years with Bolton Wanderers, and I can’t help thinking that he has been harshly treated.
He’s certainly no Roberto Carlos but are any of our other full backs?
One thing you can certainly say about Robbie is that he has never given anything less than 100 per cent effort in a black and white shirt and while his best hasn’t always been good enough there are several other more talented players at the club who could learn a lot from his attitude towards playing for Newcastle United.
