Elliott, who is five years into his second spell at St James' Park, has been offered a contract by Newcastle for next season.
Elliott: "With regards to stories about me going to play in the Middle East, I haven't had talks with anyone out there and there are certainly no deals on the table.
"I've been in Dubai on holiday this summer, and while I was there I attended a football conference because my old manager Ossie Ardiles was speaking there and I thought it would be good to catch up with him as I hadn't seen him for a while.
"While I was there I spoke to a reporter who asked me what I thought of the place and I said it was a nice place to visit. He also asked me what I thought it would be like for anyone to play over there, and I replied I was sure it would be a great place to play.
"It seems as though those quotes have been turned around into something they weren't meant to be."
Well the quote "I want to end my career there", was certainly not taken out of context. He did say it, although obviously he seems to regret it.
