England Likely To Miss Out On Extra Europa League Place

Due to UEFA's Fair Play League, three places are available for the first qualifying round of the competition, with England ranked in fourth place when the interim rankings were revealed in January.

And with the period for assessment ending on April 30, if England have forced out Norway, Sweden or Finland, the highest placed team in their own Fair Play table - who has not qualified for Europe - will take the place.

With Liverpool currently occupying the spot, manager Brendan Rodgers has already said he does not want Europa League status via the Fair Play League, but through their own league performances.

With the first competitive European match on July 4, this would also interfere with Liverpool's summer tour - with matches planned in Australia, Thailand and Indonesia.

With the announcement set for next week, it still remains unlikely England will gain another place, with the ranking staying the same over the previous two seasons.
