Everton chief executive Robert Elstone will set about re-structuring plans to finance the club's Champions League ambitions after Everton's hopes for a new £400million 50,000-seater ground and shopping complex in Kirkby were dashed.
Those plans are in tatters after being rejected by Communities and Local Government Secretary John Denham ... but David Moyes will now have money to spend in January.
And that could be bad news for Newcastle ... because his number one target is Steven Taylor.
Moyes was at Preston on Monday checking out the former England Under-21 international, and he watched in horror the following evening when his Everton defence crumbled at Hull.
Put the two together, and it doesn't take a genius to work out that there will be an offer on Mike Ashley's table come the New Year.
With Chris Hughton already checking out central defenders, we wonder if a deal has already been struck?
