Pearce has been linked with succeeding Chris Hutchings at the JJB Stadium, with ex-Newcastle boss Graeme Souness also thought to be a target.
Ex-Magpie No Interest In Wigan Job!
After signing a two-year contract with the Football Association in the summer, Pearce turned down a return to club management with QPR.
Pearce: "When I sat and talked to the people at the FA in respect to this job, obviously they know me reasonably well and know I'm pretty straight, and I said to them if I take this job on I'll take it on for the duration of my contract and I won't leave and go anywhere else in that time.
"I think it's only fair that if I give a commitment to employers and to players - maybe more so the players - they need to know that I'm the man who is going to be in charge of this team unless the FA decide otherwise.
"But from my point of view I'll stay and work for the FA for the duration of my contract and I'll be proud and pleased to do so. I'm a man of my word."
Paul Jewell says he's had no offer from Wigan, but is ready to return to management.
The former Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday boss left the Latics at the end of last season after saving them from Premier League relegation, saying he needed a break from the game.
Jewell: "Let me make it quite clear - I have had no contact with chairman Dave Whelan these past few days or anyone else at the club for that matter.
"But, after six months away from management, I am ready and willing to return to work.
"Any offers that come my way I will consider and I firmly believe that I will return to football refreshed and a better manager.
"A lot of rubbish was written when I left Wigan in May. Some people said I had cracked up following the pressure of our relegation battle.
"What a load of garbage. I just felt after six years of working in this job I needed a break as it consumes you 24/7.
"Talk of me returning to Wigan is a little awkward because me andd Chris (Hutchings) are good friends.
"I am doubly disappointed it has not worked out for him because of our relationship and the fact I recommended him for the job when I left the club."
