Tamworth boss Mark Cooper is hoping to sign former Newcastle United defender Alan Neilsen in time for Saturday's FA Trophy clash at Halesowen Town.
The Lambs manager is desperate for reinforcements as his squad has been hit by an injury and suspension crisis.
Cooper: "Alan would be a great signing for us because he can play right back, centre half or centre midfield."
Neilsen started his career as a trainee at Newcastle when he signed in 1989, going on to make 43 starts for the Magpies, scoring one goal (at the Old Den when we lost 2-1 to Millwall in 1991). He went on to play for Southampton, Fulham and Grimsby and most recently enjoyed a three-year stint at Luton Town.
Although he was capped by Wales when he was on Newcastle's books, he was born in Germany, Wegburg.
