"We were aware that it was going to be hard to get out of. We were one point behind Derby, we'd kept one clean sheet in ten games, were one point adrift and we were in big trouble.
"Obviously, when I came it wasn't exactly red carpet treatment for myself which I fully understand.
"But for about 18 months this club hasn't been capable of beating teams in the top half of the table.
"We've got to get back to being a football club who is capable of beating the teams in the bottom half on a regular basis but also get a lot better against the teams in the top half."
