... but that is not the case, as player and manager say Jenas is staying, despite a rollercoaster season at Tottenham.
Martin Jol: "Jenas is developing himself in personality in our team and in the dressing room. I can't ask for more. He knows what we need - leadership in midfield.
"We've got a different midfield this season with Didier Zokora, and Tom Huddlestone is young. It's something you notice when he was back against Sheffield United, he scored the first goal and was vocal. He knew we needed that as a team.
"Against Everton he saw what we needed more of, it's a natural thing. It's not something from last week, he is developing into a player who is getting older and doing well. He is English which is important, for a foreign player it is more difficult."
Jermaine Jenas: "Goals seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment and in every game I go into I think I am going to score. On Sunday it was a case of just being in the right place at the right time and that is what happens when you are in that frame of mind.
"I'm happy with my football at the moment, and I am happy at Tottenham."

Big signing from Nottingham Forest, he was captain of the England Youth team. Midfielder who was reluctant to join Newcastle unless they gave him a guarantee of first team football. Robson promised him an opportunity ... and he took it. Won his first full England cap against Australia, and won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2003. Cost £5m. Made skipper in 2004 when Alan Shearer was injured. Sold to Spurs in August 2005, although the club tried hard to keep him.
