It was thought Huckerby was looking for a move away from Carrow Road, and his early return from abroad suggested he had played his last game for the club, but Norwich manager Peter Grant has insisted it was all a storm in a teacup.

The 31-year-old winger recently voiced his frustration over the departures of Robert Earnshaw and Dickson Etuhu this summer and this fuelled speculation he could leave Carrow Road.

As for leaving Holland, it has been revealed Huckerby is suffering from "a low grade groin strain".

Grant: "If he was going to leave Norwich he would have left last season - there have always been plenty of clubs interested in him. That is why I gave him a new contract.

"I spoke to him and told him I never keep players who are not committed to the club and he said 'gaffer, I want to stay and play here'. He won't be going anywhere - I can guarantee that."

Huckerby signed for Newcastle in 1995 but only made two Premiership substitute appearances. He was a remarkably popular player considering he didn't start a league match for Newcastle.

Was a superb prospect who came from Lincoln (£470,000) then moved onto Coventry City for a million. We all knew how good he was but Keegan had to sell him to raise money for the Shearer deal.
