It was a personal battle that had most of us in stitches, and Graeme Souness blowing a fuse. But it upset the FA, too, and Tim Cahill and Celestine Babayaro have been charged with violent conduct.
The two players clashed inside the penalty area as Everton prepared to take a set-piece on the right flank. Cahill swung an arm at Babayaro before the Nigerian tagged him on his nose, leaving the Australian close to crying. He shouted for his mum, who sadly wasn't there, and it was left to David Moyes to wipe away the tears.
Referee Howard Webb spoke to the duo but did not show any cards so a commission will decide their fate at a hearing on Thursday, unless the players appeal.
They have until 6pm today (Wednesday) to appeal.
