Having been brought up on a diet of Marcelino, Luque, Viana, Bassedas, etc in recent years, we tend to think the worst when they drop like flies and seems to be shot by a sniper in the stands.
Marcelino, for God's sake was out for a year with a broken finger!
So when Jonas Gutierrez ended his two-year wait for a goal last week, then was substituted minutes later ... some thought the occasion was too much for him and he needed a lie down.
But that was NOT the case, and shame on us for even THINKING such horrible thoughts. He was injured ... and that's a fact.
So much so, he missing out on Argentina's friendly with Spain last night.
Gutierrez: "My objectives are clear this year – I want to win promotion with Newcastle, and I want to have a successful World Cup with Argentina.
"It was a hard qualification, but we did it in the last game. We took the six points from Peru and Uruguay, and we go to the World Cup. That was all Argentina wanted – to be in the World Cup.
"It was hard, but we did it, and we're happy. All the country has been waiting for us to qualify.
"The people like to watch the national team. Now we have the opportunity, and we have to be prepared.
"Here, I want to be in the Premier League next year, so I want to do my best in all the games, and with the national team, we have to prepare with the friendly games."
