There is scope for a ‘break’ in the season long agreements in January.
And that is when six-month loans, the so-called standard loans, can be arranged.
Lee Clark: “Of course, yes, there are decisions that have to be made.
“But deals that have been put in place might not be just down to me.
“If you want to try and change those deals it has to be a three way agreement: between the two clubs and the player concerned.
“We are talking to those clubs, those players and their representatives because it is money that could be used elsewhere for me."
Ferguson, who is on loan from Newcastle United, returned to the Blues substitutes bench at Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day, as he did New Year's Day against Barnsley - but was not used.
He had not made Clark’s matchday 18 for the three previous games.
And Ferguson last figured, as a starter, in the 3-0 win at Barnsley in November.
