The midfielder has joined French club Dijon FCO on loan.Amalfitano has made four first-team appearances for Newcastle, all in the Europa League, since joining the Magpies last summer from Reims.
The 24-year-old’s last appearance came against Maritimo last November.
After joining United, he said: “When a club like Newcastle wants you to play for them, it can only be a good thing.
“I have taken the opportunity to play in the Premier League and cannot wait to get going.”
Sadly, he has looked like a fish out of water on Tyneside, and is another of the 'French Revolution' that has failed to live up to expectation.
