Three Magpies make EFL moves
While much of the attention on transfer deadline day was focused on arrivals at St James Park the day also saw some first team departures, with three players making loan moves to English Football League sides.
Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, who has featured in the Premier League for the Toon this season, has joined Bournemouth until the end of the season, with the Cherries chasing promotion back to the top flight from the Championship.
Queens Park Rangers are another team currently in the promotion picture in the Championship and they have also turned to Newcastle to try and boost their chances by taking midfielder Jeff Hendrick to London for the remainder of the season.
Fellow midfielder Matty Longstaff has also completed a loan move. Having suffered injury set-backs last season, the 21-year-old spent the first half of this campaign on loan in Scotland with Aberdeen and has now made a temporary move south of the border which will see him feature for Mansfield Town in League Two.
