Daryl Murphy is expected to officially become a Nottingham Forest player today.
The 34-year-old will complete the final details of his £2m move from Newcastle United in the coming hours, after undergoing a medical yesterday.
The former Ipswich player is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Championship club, having found himself surplus to requirements with the Magpies, following their return to the Premier League.
It is believed that the former Celtic man could put pen to paper on a two or even three-year contract.
Murphy was a popular figure at St James' Park, where scored five goals in seven Championship starts and eight sub appearances for Rafa Benitez’s side, as they secured an immediate return to the top flight.
The Ireland international could even train with his new teammates for the first time today - and is likely to be in the squad that faces Mansfield at the One Call Stadium tomorrow, if there are no last minute hitches.
