Now the Burnley captain Steven Caldwell admits he is likely to be leaving the relegated Barclays Premier League club this summer.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and manager Brian Laws is in no rush to offer him a new deal.
Steven Caldwell: "I am open to discussion.
"I like being where people want me - I'm not saying the manager doesn't, I just don't know. I haven't had any discussions.
"I'm willing to speak to anyone at any time, but obviously I have had no discussions so far so it seems I will probably be leaving.
"It's one of these things. Sometimes things change in football, people move on, clubs change. It is nobody's fault, it is a way of life."
Caldwell joined Burnley, then managed by Steve Cotterill, from Sunderland in a £200,000 deal in January 2007.
