Jenas was originally left out of Fabio Capello's 23-man party but has been granted a reprieve after Michael Carrick picked up an ankle injury on Manchester United duty against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
The midfielder limped off after just 25 minutes of the match and Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson immediately ruled him out of contention for Wednesday's game.
Ferguson claimed Carrick would be out for "two to three weeks", revealing his ankle had "swollen up badly" following his substitution.
Jenas was part of Capello's first squad, scoring in the win over Switzerland in February, but seemed to have fallen out of favour.
He now gets his chance again on Wednesday and could stay in the squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers with Andorra and Croatia, which Carrick also seems likely to miss.
The other 12 England players on Premier League duty on Sunday appear to have come through unscathed and should report for duty later on Sunday evening.
