Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is taking a huge risk with the £20 million capture of the 28 year-old Tottenham striker, putting his neck on the line with a £35m gamble on the Irishman.
With wages and bonuses, his fee will effectively double by the time his contract is up for renewal.
With no prospect of a serious sell-on fee for a man who will be 29 in
February, Benitez is staking his reputation as well as Liverpool's chances of glory on Keane.
Rush told The Sun: "Keane is a creator - just like Kenny Dalglish.
"He scores goals but he creates a lot too and that will be good for Liverpool.
"I really loved playing with Kenny because he always knew when to feed the ball to me.
"Keane can play that role for Liverpool because he has good vision and a good sense of the space around him. That will suit (Fernando) Torres to the ground.
"It's his hold-up play that is the key because he can bring Torres even more into the game.
"He can bring the best out of his team-mates and everyone around him will benefit."
